Who is Eric Wells?

I am a writer, a systems thinker, and a lifelong learner.

My academic training in communication studies was only the beginning of a skillset that takes years to cultivate. I have a complementary set of soft skills and technical skills and the ability to seamlessly switch between them. I can write from the heart, with polished pedantry, and with the voice of a brand or organization. I can see big picture concepts without leaving individuals behind. Beyond that, I embrace cultural and technological evolution and excel when learning and applying new skills simultaneously.

I currently volunteer with Queer Men United (QueerAR.org), a 501(c)(3) serving queer men in Arkansas. My work here requires self-directed study of nonprofit operations (through reputable coursework and sources). I apply what I learn to my existing background (human resources, interpersonal and organizational communication, and writing) to solve current organizational challenges. I acquire what the current task requires through research, training, and what I learn from experts in the field. Then, I test it against our actual challenges and refine my approach accordingly.

I am also forging ahead in the burgeoning AI-driven landscape by building practical, ethical AI-assisted workflows through the same self-directed approach. I use AI tools to support my work; I do not outsource the work to them. Authenticity, efficiency, and epistemic integrity (the discipline of forming beliefs honestly and revising them when evidence demands) are currently in open competition. Skills like writing, research, and organizational communication have never mattered more. Even prompting requires a type of finesse that combines rhetorical devices, interpersonal skill, and sycophancy mitigation, making it a much-needed skill.

I am actively seeking roles where careful thinking, clear writing, and ethical judgment are treated as assets rather than obstacles; nonprofit communications, AI training/integration, and writing-centered positions are my current focus.

But wait… there’s more!

Personal Bio:

I grew up in Baton Rouge, LA, and in some ways I have always been a southerner at heart. I have lived in Las Vegas, NV (where I graduated college from UNLV), Sarasota, FL (where I developed professionally and was active in and inspired by the philanthropic community), and family matters have brought me to Maumelle, AR. Here, I hope to launch a new and meaningful career. I have two amazing toy poodles (Ewok & Riker). My main hobbies are writing and gardening, but I also enjoy biking, hiking, and time spent with my friends. I am a self-identified geek. So, I love sci-fi, fantasy, and comic books.
